I created several comic strips during my ten years as a full-time cartoonist. Listed below are the two most popular, along with some examples you can read:
The Forty Year Old Hippie represents a large body of work for me, and was very popular in the late '70's and early '80's". The character is based upon some old hippies I knew while I was living in Cotati, California and some autobiographical experiences while raising my daughter in San Francisco.
Mellow Cat: This strip is based upon a real person from La Jolla, California, who was known around Surfer Publications as "Mellow Cat," an avid surfer, turned skateboard guru. Mellow Cat was the first skateboard cartoon strip and appeared in Skateboarder Magazine from 1978 to 1981.

The Hippie refuses to pack it in. His mantra is “Two-hundred trips and they’ve all been bummers—but I ain’t givin’ up!”
